Dr. Noémie Janot visits the LGE!   Noemi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire des Environnements continentaux at the University de Lorraine. She gave a great seminar on organo-mineral interactions in the critical zone.

Our two-day meeting on Carbon cycling and redox processes in soils and sediments brought together current and future collaborators using nanoSIMS, (cryo)-electron microscopy, synchrotron methods, electrochemistry and metabolomics to follow redox processes in soil systems.

Professor Marco Keiluweit visits the LGE!  Marco, professor of Soil and Microbial Biogeochemistry at UMass Amherst, joins the group for two weeks supported by a grant from the Herbette Foundation.  Marco will give two talks while here: “Mapping Carbon Flow through Soils:  Ecosystem and Global Impacts” and “Spatial variations in microbial processes controlling carbon oxidation rates in soils”!

Katayoon, co-advised by JP and Torsten Vennemann defends her Master’s thesis “Assessing the water quality of an agricultural watershed using geochemical & isotopic analyses”.  Interesting spatial analysis of nitrate concentrations and sources in the aquifer below Montricher (VD), which supplies the drinking water for Morges (VD). Congratulations!
